Therapeutic Massage is the mobilisation and manipulation of soft tissue (such as muscles and fascia) to restore normal biomechanical/functional use.  Therapeutic Massage can be applied to assist in the treatment of tension, pain relief, and musculo-skeletal problems.  Regular massage can lead to improved circulation, mobility of joints and general well-being.

Therapeutic Massage is an integral part of the healing process of injuries as it aids in the recovery phase of injury and can also provide benefit to a patient suffering from the negative effects of stress and tension or an athlete that wishes to enhance their sport performance and prevent injury.

Massage techniques taught within the qualification ranges from techniques for a gentle relaxing massage to deeper techniques like Trigger Point therapy and Myofascial Techniques.

Upon completion of the qualification the student is required to register with the Allied Health Professionals Council of South Africa, after which a practise number can be obtained.
