Potchefstroom Academy and SAAHST is proud to announce that subsequent to National Artisan Moderation Body’s (NAMB) recommendation of our institution, the Quality Council for Trades and Occupation (QCTO) approved our application to be accredited as a Trade Test Centre.
During 2008 the Skills Development Act, Act 97 of 1998, was amended to strengthen the national policy that governs artisan development in South Africa. One of the critical outcomes of the amendment was the establishment of a National Artisan Moderation Body (NAMB) on 30th November 2010 in the Department of Higher Education and Training to coordinate Artisan development in the Republic.
The Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) is a Quality Council established in 2010 in terms of the Skills Development Act. Its role is to oversee the design, implementation, assessment and certification of occupational qualifications on the Occupational Qualifications Sub-Framework (OQSF).
We first applied to be accredited as a Trade Test Centre in March 2015 and were notified by 21 September 2015 that our application was successful.
Our institution is accountable for the provisioning of the trade of Hairdressing and is proud of our incredible team lead by Martinette Cromhout for this achievement.
